Holi - the festival of colour

Today we celebrated the festival of Holi. We learnt about how the festival is also known as the festival of colour.

Holi is a Hindu festival celebrated in India. The festival starts with a bonfire and is followed by the throwing of coloured paint. We spent the day exploring colours and made some different paintings.

Have a look at what we did.

What can you remember about the Holi festival?

Making Cookies!

As part of our learning about weight, we have been making cookies. We had to read the ingredients and use the scales to make sure we put the right amount of ingredients in the bowl.

Then we mixed the ingredients together and made cookies! It was lots of fun!
What did the cookies taste like?

Farmer Rosie had a Farm

We had a brilliant time on our visit to Hall Farm at Brooksby College. We walked through the meadow and found a badger sett, mole hills, we found lots of cow poo and some tracks.

After we went onto the farm. We saw a lamb which had just been born. We also saw some calves and piglets.

What did you enjoy about our farm visit?

Detective Work!

As part of our maths day activities, we teamed up with Lichtenstein class and went on a treasure hunt. We had to solve problems which we found on a map to find out a special letter. The letters made a special word at the end of the activity.

Take a look at our hunt!

Maths Day 2014

Where are you going? What shapes did you use? These are some of the questions we had to answer as part of our work for maths day. All our activities were linked in with our theme - journeys.

We explored lots of different things and talked about solving the problems.

We painted some vehicles using 2d and 3d shapes.

What shapes can you see when you walk home from school?
